Lodging

www.OjaiInn.com will serve as our primary, discounted motel in Ojai, with www.sunidoinn.com joining the Ojai Inn as our two suggested places to rest your head (when that sliver of opportunity presents itself).  Of course, both Ojai and Ventura abound with motels, and if your search impetus won’t be satisfied until you check out at least a dozen or 46, have at it.  Still, for the discounts both these motels offer us, we hope you’ll consider them first in your search.  Mention Two Moon when calling to make your reservations…

For other options, and for wider information about what to do, where to go, how to spend money in Ojai, visit the Ojai Chamber of Commerce website, OjaiChamber.org – maybe you’ll want to spend a week on either side of Two Moon just for the fun of hanging around this somewhat idyllic community.  And you have to be in town, not on the ridge suffering during the run, to appreciate Ojai’s self-proclaimed magical “pink moment.”

Camping

Camping will be available on the Thacher School Athletic Field for $33.33 for the entire weekend (Friday morning as we set up til Sunday noon’ish as we tear down).  Choose this option (later e-mail traffic), and you’ll pay sometime before you show up.

If you come early and wish to stay near available trails in Pt Mugu State Park, check out staying at either Thornhill Broome Beach or Sycamore Canyon.  Both campgrounds are among those that Gov. Ah-nuld has taken off the “reservation” system, so they are first-come, first-serve.

In Ojai, there are two obvious campgrounds – Camp Comfort and Dennison Campground. Out Rte 33, in the Driving Directions section, are a couple more ‘grounds, but they’re farther away from Ojai and the Start/Finish.

Camp Comfort, with sites for RV’s (but no noticeable spots just for tents). From the junction of 33 & 150, head away (south) from Ojai on 33, for a half mile, turning left onto Hermosa Road. Follow Hermosa for about 0.6 miles, turning right at the stop sign, after which you’ll immediately see the campground. Drive another 1/10 mile to the entrance. Fees (as of this writing) are $40/night, with shower available.

Dennison Campground is about 1.5 miles, on the righthand side, beyond Boccali’s on Hwy 150. Somewhere over 20 drive-in tent sites (w/ fire ring), the ones higher on the hill affording some pretty spiffy views of the Ojai Valley. $20/night. No shower, but a couple bathrooms situated here ‘n there.
